Irena’s Vow moves to Broadway - the one in New York City!
OHRC Member and Second Generation Speaker, Jeannie Smith, has one more reason to be proud of her mom. Righteous Gentile Irena Gut Opdyke (pictured), a Polish Catholic, was forced to work as head housekeeper for a prominent German major during the Holocaust. Over a two-year period of service, Irena risked her own life in order to protect the lives of twelve Jewish refugees whom she secretly took under her care.
Irena’s Vow is the extraordinary true story of one woman’s choice and the twelve lives that would ultimately be saved - or lost - by her decision. Irena’s Vow marks Tovah Feldshuh’s first return to Broadway since her incomparable performance in Golda’s Balcony.
In the video below, Jeannie Smith (pictured at left with Tovah Feldshuh in New York) tells us about her mom’s story and Jeannie’s speaking experiences. She is a Second Generation Speaker with the OHRC Speakers Bureau. Choose the format that works best on your computer. NOTE: Please allow time for the video to load.
