We hope that you will encourage your students to participate and guide their participation by helping them to interpret this year’s topic: “Take Action”. We suggest you give each student a copy of the prompt to use as he/she develops ideas for an entry as the piece must reflect the prompt. Only entries that address the prompt will be considered. When they near the completion of their work, students should be given the sheet with detailed instructions and the checklist to prepare their final entry.
Entries for this year’s competition are due March 7, 2014. Winners will be notified in April 2014, and will receive awards at a ceremony on May 10, 2014. Winning entries will be publicized and displayed throughout the year in various venues, giving students an opportunity to be recognized for outstanding achievement beyond the boundaries of the classroom.
